Say It

The right words, before you reach the counter.

The person opposite doesn't speak English and the queue is growing. Say It is ready before you walk in: the lines you will actually need, written and checked by native speakers, with audio and a big show-this-screen mode.

Why not a translation app?

Almost right, a few seconds too late.

Translation apps are great for a menu. At a counter they are slow, and they get tone and grammar wrong in ways that matter. Say It is ready before you go, every line is checked by a person, and it tells you what they are likely to say back.

Translation app

"I need to collect my permission for stay."

"Give me medicine for head pain."

Say It

Přišel jsem si vyzvednout povolení k pobytu.

I've come to collect my residence permit.

Potřebuji něco na bolest hlavy.

I need something for a headache.

Try it

Hear a few lines.

Pick a place. In the app every line is recorded by a native speaker. Here, your browser does its best.

Czech changes some words depending on who is speaking. Say It always shows you the right form.

17 packs for the Czech Republic

Everywhere the paperwork and small talk happen.

Each pack has what you will say, what you will hear, and what to bring. More are added free.

At the desk

Built for the moment you are standing there.

Show mode

The phrase fills the screen. Turn the phone round to face them, or play it aloud in a real voice. When it goes wrong, "Stuck at the desk" has big lines ready: free, and it works without signal.

They point to an answer

"Twice a day" or "After food", right there on your screen. No guessing what they said.

Or they type a reply

Hand them the phone. They type in Czech, you read it in English, clearly marked as machine translated.

What you will hear

The things staff say back, like "Pas, prosím", so nothing catches you out.

My card

Your name, address, insurer and allergies, labelled in Czech. Show it at reception instead of spelling everything out.

Visit prep

Plan a visit and get a checklist of what to bring and the key phrases to practise, the day before.

Walk-throughs

Rehearse the whole visit, step by step.

From taking a queue ticket to saying goodbye. What you say, what they will probably say, and the small things locals know. Try the GP visit.

Walk-throughs so far: seeing a GP, the pharmacy, collecting your residence card, and eating out with an allergy.

Numbers, prices and dates

The part everyone mishears.

"Tři sta dvacet korun" goes past fast. The numbers trainer lets you hear prices and dates at your own speed, then quizzes your ear. It is free forever.
