Move

Your move, in the order the offices expect.

Every office wants a paper from another office. Move turns the Czech rules for your situation into one plan: what to do, what to bring, where to go, and by when.

Built for your situation

No two moves have the same plan.

A self-employed designer with a dog has a different list from an employee moving with two kids. Try it: change the answers and watch your plan change.

In the app you also set your arrival date, and every deadline is worked out from it.

Four phases

From the first form to your first 90 days.

Your plan is split into the four stretches of a move, so you only look at what matters now.

Phase 1

Before you fly

  • Apply for your residence permit
  • Police check with an apostille
  • A place to stay, with the right form
  • Health insurance that meets Czech rules
Phase 2

First week

  • Register your address
  • Fingerprints for your residence card
  • A Czech phone number
  • A transport pass
Phase 3

First month

  • A Czech bank account
  • Public health insurance
  • Trade licence, if you work for yourself
  • A long-term lease and utilities
Phase 4

First 90 days

  • Collect your residence card
  • Driving licence, if you drive
  • Register your dog
  • Start Czech lessons
Every step, explained

Not just a checklist.

Each step tells you what it is and why it matters, then gets practical.

  • What to bring. Tick a paper here and it is ticked in your papers list too.
  • Where to go, how long it takes, and what it usually costs.
  • How it usually goes, in order, with a tip from people who have done it.
  • Who is doing it. Moving as a couple? Hand steps to your partner, or do them together.
  • Notes and your own dates, for booking times and reference numbers.
  • Get ready for the visit. For every step at a counter, one screen with the date, the papers to bring, the Czech you will need and a walk-through of the visit.

Register your address with the Foreign Police

Non-EU citizens must report where they live soon after arriving. Your landlord or hotel sometimes does it for you.

Deadlines

Counted from the day you actually land.

Some Czech deadlines are counted in working days, skipping weekends and public holidays. Move does the counting. Tap "I have landed" and every legal deadline is worked out again from that day.

Everything with a date lands in the shared Dates list, next to your letter deadlines, with a reminder before each one.

Papers

Every paper the offices will ask for, in one list.

Mark each one Not yet, In progress or Ready. Move tells you which need an extra step before they are accepted, and why. Get those done before you fly: from Prague it usually means posting originals home.

Add the expiry dates of your passport, residence card, health insurance and driving licence. Move reminds you in time to renew, and the renewal goes into your Dates list, so the app keeps helping long after your first 90 days.

Apostille

A stamp from the issuing country that makes a document valid abroad. Police checks, birth and marriage certificates.

Czech translation

Done by a sworn translator (soudní překladatel), who attaches the translation to the original.

Verified signature

Your landlord's signature on the accommodation form, verified at a Czech POINT or a notary.

Linked to the other parts

Steps that happen at a counter open the right Say It phrases. Steps that produce a letter point to the office guide in Paper Trail, so you know what is coming. When that letter arrives and you scan it, it shows up on the step, and an appointment letter sets the step's date for you.

Honest about what it is

Move is not a lawyer or an immigration adviser. Every step shows when it was last checked, and has a "Something out of date?" button. For anything about your right to stay, confirm with the office.

At launch, the move plan covers moving to Prague from Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, New Zealand and eight EU countries (Ireland, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Italy and Poland), with more countries added over time. EU citizens need no residence permit, so their plan is shorter. Rules, fees, rents and deadlines on this page are examples while we finish checking them.
