Letters and a vault for the people you love

Write it now.
We'll deliver it when it matters.

A letter for her 18th birthday. A note to yourself at 50. Words for someone when you're no longer here. Lockit keeps them sealed and safe, then delivers them at exactly the right moment.

End-to-end encrypted Free to start Recipients need no account
How it works

Three steps, then peace of mind.

Most people write their first letter in about ten minutes. A few lines is enough to begin, and you can come back to it any time.

1

Write your letter

Say what matters, in your own words. Stuck? Gentle prompts help you start. Premium adds voice notes and photos.

2

Choose when it arrives

Pick the moment it should be opened. Once it's sealed, it waits safely until then.

3

Hand someone the key

Choose a trusted person. They can't read anything, but when the time comes, they make sure your words arrive.

For every kind of moment

The words you'd never want left unsaid.

A yearly reread

Once a year, Lockit gently asks you to reread what you've sealed. Keep it as it is, or update it as life changes.

Know when it arrives

Letters to your future self land on the day you chose, and you'll know when they've been opened.

The vault

Everything your family will need, in one safe place.

When someone dies, families spend months hunting for passwords, policies and wishes. Lockit gathers it all now, locked away until your trusted person needs it.

  • Say what should happen to each account: close it, memorialise it or pass it on
  • Record your funeral wishes, music and who gets which keepsake
  • Leave a map to the physical things: the safe, the passport, the paperwork

How delivery is triggered

Nothing is sent by mistake. Ever.

Dated letters simply arrive on the day. For letters meant for after you're gone, there are several gentle checks and a safety window before anything is released.

1
A gentle check-in

Every 3 months, one tap says you're still here.

2
7 days to reply

We send three friendly reminders across the week.

3
Your person checks in

If you're quiet, your trusted person is asked to check on you.

4
30 more days

Only then can they request delivery.

5
72-hour window

You're alerted, and anyone can still cancel.

Your trusted person never sees your letters or vault while you're here. They just hold the key.

When the day comes

Receiving it feels like opening an envelope.

No app to download and no account to create. Just a private link, a sealed envelope, and your words.

Marcus left you a letterHi Amara, in 2026 your dad wrote you a letter and asked us to keep it safe until today...

A gentle email

It explains who the letter is from and that there's no rush. The link never expires.

Open when ready

Some people read straight away, some wait for a quiet moment. Either is right.

Questions

The sensible stuff.

Can Lockit read my letters?+

No. Letters and your vault are encrypted on your phone before they reach us. We only ever see that a letter exists and when it should be delivered.

What if my trusted person gets it wrong?+

They can only request delivery after you've missed a check-in and a further 30 days have passed. You're then alerted and there's a 72-hour window when anyone can cancel. With Premium, you can require two people to agree.

Can I change or cancel a letter after sealing it?+

Yes, any time before it's delivered. Edit the words, change the date, or delete it altogether. You're always in control.

What if the recipient's email changes?+

You can update it any time, and your trusted person can update it later too. Lockit also sends a quiet check to confirm addresses still work before delivery.

Does my trusted person need the app?+

No. They accept by email, it's free, and they can step down at any time. Recipients don't need an account either.

Is this a replacement for a will?+

No. Lockit sits alongside a will. Store a copy of your will in the vault so your executor can find it, but always make a legal will with a lawyer.
